Benefits of Radiowave Surgery

Radiowave surgery has a number of clear benefits over other surgical methods for removing moles and lesions, such as:

  • Precision cutting
  • Fast recovery as due to minimal tissue damage and bleeding
  • Decreased pain and bruising after procedure
  • Specimen can be sent for histology
  • Good cosmetic outcome with minimal scar, if any.

Radiowave surgery has been used across many surgical specialties for a number of years. The attraction of radiowave surgery is that due to high operating frequencies the electrode used on the skin remains cold which has the advantage of minimal damage to tissue with reduced post procedure pain and scarring.

Pacemakers can be a contraindication for radiowave surgery. A consultation with Dr. McDaid will determine your suitability for the procedure.

Dermoscopy Mole Removal Glasgow

Before removing any mole or skin lesion with radiowave surgery Dr. McDaid will carry out a mole assessment using a technique called dermoscopy whereupon he will take a detailed clinical history reflecting on previous risk factors such as sun exposure and examine the mole or moles using a dermatoscope. A dermatoscope allows Dr. McDaid to assess a magnified view of the surface and just underneath the surface of a mole using polarised and non-polarised views, all providing clues to the nature of the mole. Pictures of the mole or moles under assessment will be taken and stored in your patient notes.

Moles that Dr. McDaid considers to be benign can be removed with radiowave surgery and will also be sent to pathology for peace of mind ensuring you receive a comprehensive and safe outcome.

You can be assured of our commitment to your safety as we are proud to bring advanced skin imaging technology to our patients in Glasgow for examining, photographing and tracking skin lesions. This advanced technology aids the doctor in providing the safest diagnosis and advice on mole removal. Your consultation is key in deciding upon your next steps and treatment options.
