Frequently Asked Questions

What is a cyst?
Cysts are encased lumps under the skin. They are very common for both men and women and usually harmless. There are different types of cysts that appear on different parts of the body. Ganglion or mucinoid cysts occur around our joints. Sebaceous cysts and epidermoid cysts can be present anywhere on the body but are common on the neck, scalp and other areas. If a cyst is troubling you or you don’t like its appearance it can be removed.
Will I have a scar?

Scarring can be a consequence of any type of surgical procedure and depends on a number of factors, such as the size of the area being treated as well as your body’s own ability to repair itself. However, a number of factors can work towards minimising any scarring such as the practitioner’s technique as well as the technology used to carry out the procedure. Ellman radiowave surgery, also known as radio-frequency surgery, operates at a low temperature which has the benefit of causing less tissue damage to the surrounding area being treated promoting rapid healing and resulting in excellent cosmetic results. As the first independent private clinic in Scotland offering Ellman radiowave surgery for the removal of benign lesions we are passionate about producing the best cosmetic results for our patients.
