Cysts come in various types and sizes. Epidermoid cysts, the most common type, develop when skin cells multiply under the skin, creating a wall filled with a soft, yellowish substance called keratin.

Pilar cysts, typically found on the scalp, form around hair follicles and may be hereditary.

Ganglion cysts, which develop around joints, are often seen on wrists, hands, and fingers.

Chalazions, or eyelid cysts, arise from blocked oil glands in the eyelid, and may be tender or produce discharge.

At Altruderm clinic, we conduct all minor surgeries as outpatient procedures, allowing you to return home the same day. On the day of your treatment, Dr. McDaid will review the details of your procedure and obtain your consent with a signed form. Your comfort is our priority, so we administer a local anesthetic to ensure a painless experience.

After Dr. McDaid completes the procedure, he will guide you on post-treatment care and provide a leaflet with after-care instructions. For additional support, you’ll receive a direct phone number to reach Dr. McDaid outside clinic hours for any queries or concerns. Lastly, we’ll organise a follow-up visit with Dr. McDaid roughly two weeks post-procedure to monitor your recovery.
